WHAT YOU CAN DO

Y O U . S H O U L D .....

Comment on ALL Planning Applications in Shinfield, whether you agree with it or not, and your comments should be taken into account. Every person has the right to make a comment, not just one per household.

Y O U . S H O U L D . N O T .....

Send in identical copy letters, or petitions to the Wokingham District Council - these do not work, since they are counted as one person. Multiply objections bring the applications to the Development Control Committee, and not just the sole responsibility of a single planning officer.

Use your rights!

WE ARE ALSO INVOLVED IN THE "VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT" now called Village Character Statement. You to can get involved. It will not stop development, but allows the village to have a say in what future developments will look like (help to keep the character of the village). Let us know if you would like to help write some script for this, or be involved in any other way.
Contact us by email and/or let us have email addresses of your friends in the village (with their permission of course) if we have your email address we will be able to send you regular updates!

SHINFIELD VILLAGE NEEDS YOU - YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE !!!

You can complete the Supporters Form below.

Attend: Parish Council Meetings. There is 15 minutes question time before each meeting. Dates on our "Important Dates" Page.

You can lobby your Parish and District Councillors and your local Member of Parliament. We have included a list you might find helpful. Please note that your contact for the Shinfield Parish Council is the Clerk Jacqui Barnes.

You can support us - complete the Suppporters Form at bottom of this Page. We need new people and we also need to raise some fighting funds. Contact us if you have any fund raising ideas.

Along with some of our loyal supporters the Shinfield Residents Action Group committee, regularly attended the Wokingham District Councils - Development Control Committee Meetings.

You can be vigilant, by reading all planning applications in the newspapers and checking out the new planning applications that are displayed in your area. If you don't understand the planning notifications you receive in the post, call/write to the council and ask them to explain it to you, DON'T BE KEPT IN THE DARK. Let us know of any planning notices and information you receive. Collectively these all affect everybody in the village. Be aware that sometimes more than one planning application can be lodged, and sometimes one is withdrawn, so you think it's no longer a valid application.

You can all fight for your own little corner, but we must all be united and share our information. Whether you live in the North, South, East or West of the village, even surrounding villages, or have recently moved here. You should also be concerned about what goes on and support other residents. For now it's just begun, other near villages will be next. You can enlist their support as well. Talk to us, talk to your neighbours, communication is important.

You can contact our group and join us in our quest to preserve YOUR VILLAGE it's history, wildlife, trees and buildings of architectural interest - the list is endless......

treeThis is the 200 year old Oak Tree, after the demonstration 18th March 2005, on A327 and junction of Cutbush Lane, in the village of Shinfield, South of Reading. The attempted felling of this tree, sparked the formation of this action group. The tree has gone... we have been promised a replacement, which is to go on the corner of the newly resited Brookers Hill. When????
